Shadow Box Frame

Welcome friends!!!!
Thank you so much to all who commented & my FB page on the previous post KNOWING ME.
A DIY luminary withTim Holtz caged bird die cuts is what I share today. I loved the outcome...................beautiful!

I started by inking the die cuts with distress inks (squeezed lemonade, spiced marmalade, picked raspberry). I then stamped the newsprint over it with black archival ink followed by a medium coat of clear rock candy crackle paint. Vellum was then glued on the inner side of the cages. All the four die cuts were then glued to a chipboard base. Finally embellishments.............and I had this wonder, a luminary!

The chipboard bird colored with distress inks & coated with clear UTEE. Don't miss the HOME resin embellie & the cute charm.

Do you see the LSG shimmer over the pink flowers?

Look at that crackled effect!!!

And here it is with a tea light.............now won't this be a unique home decor item?

Supplies used -

Knowing me........

Welcome here again!
A couple of days ago Pooja approached me to be a part of a bloghop & you can read about it in her post here. When she sent me the details I accepted to be a part of this chain where bloggers from across the globe have participated. I prefer to call this a blog chain which is all about exploring different blogs, each filled with creative awesomeness!
Well Pooja is one creative lady who knows how to make the best use of her resources. Her recycling ideas............boy, are they out of the world! Pooja always takes the time to visit the blogs of her fellow crafters & comment regularly on the posts. Thank you Pooja for the invite.

1. What am I working currently working on?
I have my hands full with a couple of rakhi cards, projects for swaps I participate in & helping my daughter with a few friendship cards. Will share all these with you in due course.

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?
I can't really describe how my work differs! Over a period of time I think all crafters develop a style which is so unique that one can easily identify their work. I hope some day that happens with mine too! I always love trying out new techniques and products & all I can say is I focus on details in each project.

3. Why do I create what I do?
My mom is very creative & excels in embroidery & crochet. As a child I think that's where I began. Crafting has been a habit & a hobby for a long time now. However 3 years ago the need to keep myself productively occupied after I quit work led to this blog. I do not socialize much nor is T.V entertaining to me.....................so I create because I like to! It is therapy for me!

4. How do I become inspired or stay inspired?
Well, the starting point could be anything - nature, colors, a technique, a product, inspiration from fellow crafters, magazines...................and of course that inspiring maze called pinterest. In other words anything or is it everything?

5. How long does it take to create a project?
Well I have not actually kept a tab on this.............whatever I am working on is not complete until I am satisfied. Usually conception of the idea takes maximum time, implementation is faster.

6. What are my favourite things I love to create with at the moment?
My likes are forever changing & more often my latest supplies are my favorite things & currently it is shrink plastic! The pleasure in seeing the image shrink while heating cannot be described.

7.What is my signature style?
Hmm..............very difficult to answer. Over the years I have tried my hand at various forms of art - painting on fabric, glass, marble, tie & dye, batik, embroidery, murals, etc. Once I discovered papercraft I am hooked to it. If you have been following me you know I love to experiment & not continue with a particular style. A technique interests me more than a product.

Thats it about me! I now introduce you to three other creative ladies & do visit their blogs on Monday next to know about them.

A vedic scholar, numerologist, vastu consultant, practicing astrologist................and a very  passionate crafter. She loves to alter things with her mixed media skills. Very versatile indeed, Suman. Thank you for participating.

It was her mixed media which drew my attention on FB. This dynamic lady also runs an online store - CRAFTYCITY & when she created her own challenge blog Creative Colors Challenges I got the opportunity to be on her DT. Its been a pleasure to know you Archana & thank you for participating.

A dentist by profession & a passionate crafter. This young lady has her hands full all the time be it helping hubby to run their orphanage or doodling or stamping. She is also the creator of Create Something Catchy Challenges. It been my pleasure to work as a DT member since its inception Deepti & thank you for participating.

So sweet of you

Welcome here again!

Sharing a card  with my first attempt at the die cut inlay technique.
I have used the whimsy circle die from MB for this. This is a very intricate die & so I used a piece of colored vellum behind the inlaid die cut to add some visual interest. The sentiment (PTI signature greetings) was heat embossed with white EP on the vellum. Tied this to the heart shaped wooden button using silver string. Some faux stitching along the edges resulted in this elegant card.

A Mini Album

Hello friends!
Sharing a mini album I made as GD for Kraftzone. The theme all month long is 1-2-3 (pattern paper, image, embellishments)....................take a look -
The fussy cut justrite stamped image used for the cover is hand colored -

The mini has six pockets with tag inserts - four inside & two outside. Lots of distressing here on the tags.

Can you see the dash of glitter over the die cuts? Used the wink of stella glitter pen.

Decoupage Tray

Sharing a decoupage project which was in my TO DO list for several months. Followed a tutorial (with a few alterations) by Divya of Yelling Yellow who has also designed these "royal" Indian themed designer papers.

The 12x12 paper fits perfectly into the tray. I have first distressed the paper edges using tumbled glass & stamped the script with archival ink. Patterns were randomly stenciled in versamark & perfect pearls used on these (not sure whether the photograph does justice to the awesome distressing & glimmer of the perfect pearls)

Sides -

I am a hoarder (especially of pattern papers) & though I bought these papers almost immediately on seeing Divya's tutorial I never had the heart to run my scissors through them..............now, I am so glad I did!!!!

Acryrlic colors - Camel artisits permanent rose, blue

Card in a box

Good Morning!

Hope you all like the theme at CSSS#5. I  am particularly loving this pop up theme, because pop up cards fascinated me since I was a child. This is my inspiration.............a pop up card in a box.

All these blooms are glued on acetate strips on tabs in the inside to make them pop up -

Well it may seem to be a box but it is like any other card & folds flat & can be sent in a regular envelope. Look this is how -

Please visit the challenge blog here to view the pretty creations by the rest o the team.
